Big Finish Wine Tavern to Open in San Francisco’s Mission District
San Francisco, CA – March 11, 2025 – San Francisco’s Mission District is preparing to welcome a new wine-focused venue, Big Finish Wine Tavern, slated to open its doors in mid-March. Taking over the space formerly occupied by The Monk’s Kettle, this neighborhood tavern promises to bring a relaxed and inviting atmosphere to local wine lovers.
Owner Adam Manson, a San Francisco resident with 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry, is thrilled to introduce Big Finish as his first venture in the Bay Area. With a background managing and owning wine bars and restaurants across the country, including the celebrated Capitol Lounge and Veritas Wine Bar in Washington, DC, Manson brings both culinary expertise and a genuine passion for enhancing the local community.
Big Finish reflects Manson’s vision of offering something for every taste and budget. The tavern will feature over 50 wines by the glass from around the world, with most priced from $10 to $14. With a few exceptions, all of the wine will be served on tap, which has the benefit of temperature and quality control. Manson is excited to welcome everyone from wine aficionados to wine-curious guests who can explore and enjoy different varietals and styles of wine without having to commit to the purchase of a bottle.
The drink list will also include craft beers, low-ABV cocktails, and non-alcoholic options. Additionally, Big Finish will offer a full dinner menu, available daily until midnight. Manson describes the menu as food he loves to cook and eat. From pimento cheese dip with Ritz crackers to pappardelle rustida; from carrot miso risotto to Buffalo wings served with blue cheese (of course), each dish is inspired by a time, an event, a place, or people in his life.
The Big Finish opening team is comprised of industry veterans and some newcomers. Though their experiences are diverse, they share a common commitment to providing exceptional hospitality to every guest, which is one of the core values of Big Finish. "Our goal is to create a place where folks can unwind, savor excellent wine, and enjoy delicious food in a comfortable setting," says Manson. "As a longtime San Francisco resident, I’m committed to creating a welcoming environment where discovering new wines feels approachable, and the atmosphere fosters a real sense of community."
